Back (Answer)

Democritus

#3
Front (Question)

What was Democritus’s theory? And what was his model?

Back (Answer)

-His theory was that matter is made of small indivisible particles, he called them “atomos”

#4
Front (Question)

What was John Dalton’s field of study? What and when did he study? What did his model look like?

Back (Answer)

• Dalton was a meteorologist - He studied the behavior of gasses in the early 1800’s

#5
Front (Question)

What was Daltons atomic theory?

Back (Answer)

• An element is made of indivisible, indestructible particles called atoms. • All atoms of the same element are identical with the same properties • All atoms of different elements are different. • Atoms are neither created or distorted in chemical reactions (law of conservation of matter) • Compounds form when atoms of more than one element combine(process called bounding) • In every compound, the relative number of atoms and kinds of atoms will be the same.

#6
Front (Question)

What did Joseph Thomson study? What was his theory?

Back (Answer)

• He was physicist that studied the passage of electricity through a glass tube filled with gas • His theory was that there must me negatively charged particles in atoms (he never found them)

#7
Front (Question)

What did Thomson’s model look like?

Back (Answer)

The plum pudding model
