the title is ironic because the symbol of a lamb is innocent and pure. Lambs are generally sacrificed for food, and so is Patrick. A lamb does not know when they are going to die, and so does Patrick. Patrick led himself to the slaughterhouse because he wanted to leave her

The true antagonist of the story is Patrick because after his wife shows him so much love and does whatever he wants her to do even though she is pregnant he still wants to coldly announce that he is leaving, he has no lack of empathy even though he was the unfaithful one.

he is a detached and unfaithful husband, he is a detective, he is cold and unempathetic, who is selfish and does not acknowledge his actions.
