#1
Front (Question)

What is the difference between asexual and sexual reproduction?

Back (Answer)

The difference between asexual and sexual production is through the joining of cells. Sexual reproduction requires a union between two cells (sperm and ovum) whereas asexual reproduction requires no union between sex cells instead one cell divide into two

#2
Front (Question)

In what cells do mitosis and meiosis occur?

Back (Answer)

Mitosis occurs in somatic (body) cells whereas meiosis occurs in gamete cells (sex cells).

#3
Front (Question)

Identify what happens in each stage of mitosis (IPMATC)

Back (Answer)

Interphase: DNA uncoils. Before mitosis begins the DNA makes a copy of itself suit that each new cell will have a complete set. Prophase: DNA condenses into chromosomes Metaphase: chromosomes lineup in the middle of the cell Anaphase: sister chromates are pulled apart and move to opposite ends of the cell Telephase: comments arrive at each pole the cell membrane pinches in dividing the cell into two Cytokinesis: the cell membrane to 5 completely forming two identical data cells each with the same amount chromosomes as the parent cell.

#4
Front (Question)

Identify what occurs in each stage of meiosis?

Back (Answer)

• DNA is uncoiled and not visible as chromosomes before meiosis begins. The DNA makes a copy of itself. • The DNA condenses into chromosomes. • Pairs of chromosomes exchanged sections of DNA and (therefore genes) by process called crossing over then they lineup at the middle of the cell. • Centromere of each chromosome move to opposite ends of a cell. The parent cell begins to divide. • The cell divides into two new cells each with half the original number of chromosomes. • Sister chromatids a port part and the cell device again. • For unique daughter cells are produced each with a half amount of the original number of chromosome.

#5
Front (Question)

What is crossing over and what is its purpose?

Back (Answer)

Crossing over is a process in meiosis with chromosomes exchange sections of DNA it ensures that there will be a variation among the offspring

#6
Front (Question)

Compare the number of complete cell division for my meiosis and mitosis.

Back (Answer)

In mitosis the cell divides once whereas in meiosis the cell device twice.

#7
Front (Question)

Compare the number of daughter cells after meiosis and mitosis.

Back (Answer)

Four daughter cells are produced in meiosis and two are produced in mitosis.
