Card preview (4)

#1
Front (Question)

Give the Kp equation for: 2A(g) + B(g) ↔ C(g)

Back (Answer)

Kp = pC / p(A)2 x pB Kp = partial pressure of C / partial pressure of C x partial pressure of (A)2

#2
Front (Question)

What are the possible different units for Kp

Back (Answer)

Nm-2 Pa Atmospheres (atm) . Units for the equilibrium constant Kp can be worked out exactly as for Kc

#3
Front (Question)

What is the only factor that affects Kp

Back (Answer)

Temperature If forward reaction is exothermic: Increasing temperature shifts equilibrium left (torwards reactants) so Kp decreases (same goes for Kc) If forward direction is endothermic: Increasing temperature shifts equilibrium right (towards products). Kc and Kp values increase.

#4
Front (Question)

Describe how to work out Kp from the total pressure snd number of moles of the reactants and products at equilibrium

Back (Answer)

I - initial moles C - change in moles E - moles at equilibrium Mole fraction - divide moles at equilibrium by the total number of moles at equilibrium Partial pressure - mole fraction x total pressure
