Where will you find these molten rocks?
Pockets called Magma Chambers
Rock that exists as a hot liquid.
Magma
Where does Magma forms?
Crust and upper mantle
WHEN does Magma forms?
When solid rock partially melts.
The formation of magma depends on several factors:
Heat Pressure Water Content
When does hot yet solid rocks rise, decreasing the pressure on them?
When they are less dense than the surrounding rocks.
What happens when hot yet solid rocks rise, decreasing the pressure on them?
It lowers the rocks’ melting point, allowing them to melt.
What always moves?
Magma
Where does magma works its way towards?
Earth’s surface
How does magma works its way towards Earth’s surface?
THROUGH in solid rock or by MELTING the solid rock.
How will you build a mountain?
Gathering of matter beneath Earth’s crust.
What do you call magma when it reaches Earth’s surface?
Lava
A highland formed by molten rocks and lava.
Volcano
What does a volcano have?
A crater or opening
Basically, what is a volcano?
A vent
What escapes to Earth’s surface?
Magma Gases Volcanic ash
What are two ways for Earth to release pressure and heat?
Volcanic eruptions Earthquakes
When does volcanic eruptions happen?
When lava and gas are discharged from a volcanic vent.
From ____ particles to ____ ones.
Fine; bigger
What does all volcanic eruptions emit?
Gases Dusts Ash landslides
Ash landslides
