What is Cancer?
-Uncontrollable cell division -disease of mitosis -when a normal cell turn cancerous (malignant)

How do carcinogens cause cancer?
Carcinogens cause cancer by damaging DNA which can no longer code for the important regulatory functions of the cell cycle (eg. HPV)
Types of Carcinogens:
-cigarette smoke -radiation -x-rays -UV light -food additives -several dangerous chemicals
Cancer treatment types:
-“Conventional” methods -“Indigenous” methods
Examples of Conventional Methods:
-radiation therapy -chemotherapy -surgery (removal of tumor/part of tumor)
Examples of Indigenous Methods:
-oils -foods -beverages -phytotherapy = medicines derived from plant or herbs to treat or prevent health conditions

-avoid smoking -avoid alcohol -healthy diet -physical activity -protect yourself from sun -go for reg. screenings
