a variation in the pattern of climate properties such as temperature, wind, and precipitation over a long period of time.
Climate Change
Causes of climate change:
• Concentration of carbon • greenhouse gases • human activities
GHGs stands for
Greenhouse gases
The GHGs emitted from human activities as follows:
• carbon dioxide • methane • nitrous oxide • chloroflourocarbons • ozone
from forest activities
Carbon dioxide
from agriculture activities
Methane
animal waste handling
Nitrous Oxide
Individual processes
Chloroflourocarbons
Impacts of climate change:
• extreme weather condition • degraded air quality due to increase GHGs • altered forest productivity and species condition • unproductive agriculture • deteriorated water resources • disrupted natural ecosystems • submerged coastal areas • weakened human health
2 types on how to adress climate change:
• Mitigation • Adaptation
refers to measures that can reduce atmospheric accumulations of GHGs and thereby delay the predicted impact of GHGs on global climate.
Mitigation
Renewable energies:
• solar • wind • hydro • geothermal • waste
refers to adjustments in ecological, social, or economic systems in response to actual or expected climate change stimuli, effects or impacts to reduce vulnerability, moderate damages, and realize opportunities
Adaptation
