What are the examples of greenhouse gases?
Water vapour Carbon dioxide Nitrous oxide Methane
How does human activities contribute to greenhouse gases?
Deforestation Acid rain Eutrophication Greenhouse effect
Explain how human activities contribute to acid rain and its effects on the environment
Acid rain is rain with pollutants dissolved in it. This low pH can have very negative impact of the environment. Sulphur dioxide, nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide are released j to the atmosphere from cars and factories. These gases then dissolve in the atmospheric water vapour to for weak acids. The acid rain has a catastrophic effect on the enzymes of the organisms organisms in lakes and rivers as it increases the pH of them,
Explain how human activities contribute to eutrophication and its effects on the environment
Fertilisers (sewage) leach into ponds, algae feed off these nutrient and there is a large increase in their growth called algal blood, the algal blood blocks out the sunlight, meaning that the underwater plants can no longer photosynthesise so they die, bacteria and other decomposers feed of the dead and decaying matter they increase the biological oxygen demand and the oxygen in the water. This reduces the oxygen content of the water and large animal such as fish die, reducing biodiversity
Explain how human activities contribute to greenhouse effect and its effects on the environment
Sunrise hit earth some are absorbed most are reflected back as longer wavelengths infrared radiation normally this radiation escapes into space however a greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide methane traps. This heat in atmosphere this trapped heat causes global warming. greenhouse gases are produced from many human activity such as burning fossil fuels agriculture and also the first station is trees absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide. Global warming has many effects such as melting of ice carbs which can lead to sea levels rising and flooding, it can also cause habitat destruction and extreme weather changes
Explain how human activities contribute to deforestation and its effects on environment
Humans were cutting down trees to clear land for farming and building, and for wood ti use as a fuel or burning material. The world’s forests are steadily shrinking. Deforestation leads to loss of habitat, more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as the tress absorb carbon dioxide so cutting them down increases greenhouse gases
