#1
Front (Question)

embedded system

Back (Answer)

are small computers that form part of a larger system – they are built into the device. Embedded systems are more specialised computers, they typically perform a single/dedicated/specific task. (often more efficient)

#2
Front (Question)

opposite of embedded system

Back (Answer)

general purpose computer

#3
Front (Question)

embedded system are computer?

Back (Answer)

YES

#4
Front (Question)

embedded system vs general purpose computer

Back (Answer)

embedded system - contained within larger device - specialised to specfic tasks - dont require user - not many resources gpc - its own device - many tasks - require a user - lots of resources

#5
Front (Question)

how is an embedded system different from an electric torch

Back (Answer)

it can process data

#6
Front (Question)

pros of embedded systems

Back (Answer)

Their limited number of functions means they are cheaper to design and build. They can be made smaller too. They tend to require less power. Some devices run from batteries. They do not need much processing power. They can be built using cheaper, less powerful processors.

#7
Front (Question)

cons of embedded systems

Back (Answer)

They lack the flexibility of non-embedded computer. It can be difficult to update their software (e.g. the software in a car). However, some embedded devices, e.g. fitness trackers, can often be upgraded by connecting the device to a PC and installing the new software.
