#1
Front (Question)

Where do we get our energy from?

Back (Answer)

Organic molecules in the food we eat

#2
Front (Question)

How does energy transfer into our food?

Back (Answer)

Glucose reacts with oxygen in a series of chemical reacts called aerobic respiration

#3
Front (Question)

Aerobic respiration is transferred where in the body?

Back (Answer)

To your cells

#4
Front (Question)

What are the waste products of aerobic respiration?

Back (Answer)

Carbon dioxide and water

#5
Front (Question)

What is the word equation for aerobic respiration?

Back (Answer)

Glucose + oxygen —> carbon dioxide + water (+energy)

#6
Front (Question)

Where does respiration happen?

Back (Answer)

It happens inside tiny structures inside your cells called mitochondria

#7
Front (Question)

What is the balanced symbol equation for aerobic respiration?

Back (Answer)

C6H12O6 + 6O2 —> 6CO2 + 6H2O

#8
Front (Question)

Does all cells have the same amount of mitochondria?

Back (Answer)

No because it is based on how much respiration each cells carry

#9
Front (Question)

Why does muscle cells contain large amounts of mitochondria?

Back (Answer)

They carry out lots of respiration

#10
Front (Question)

Where is glucose found?

Back (Answer)

A carbohydrate in food

#11
Front (Question)

How does digestion release glucose molecules?

Back (Answer)

Digestion breaks down food into smaller molecules

#12
Front (Question)

How does glucose get into cells?

Back (Answer)

Glucose is a carbohydrate found in food. Digestion breaks down the food into smaller molecules which releases the glucose molecules. They are then absorbed by the small intestine wall into he bloodstream, then they are transported around the blood until it dissolves in the liquid part of the blood called plasma. The dissolved glucose can diffuse into cells that need it for respiration.

#13
Front (Question)

How does oxygen go into cells from where it was in the alveoli

Back (Answer)

Wen you breathe in, air fills the alveoli in your lungs, it diffuses into the bloodstream oxygen is carried by the red blood cells in your body. Red blood cells contains haemogoblin and gets carried around the body in the blood vessels. When it reaches a cell that needs oxygen, the oxygens diffuses into the cell.

#14
Front (Question)

How does carbon dioxide leave the body?

Back (Answer)

It diffuses out of your cell and into the blood plasma, the blood transport it to the lungs, where it diffuses into the alveoli, then exhaled
