What do all reversible reactions reach?
Dynamic equilibrium
What are the features of dynamic equilibrium? [2]:
• Forward and backwards reactions are occurring at the same rate • The concentrations of reactants and products stays the same
What does dynamic equilibrium mean?
Both forward and backwards reactions are occurring simultaneously
What does Le Chatelier’s principle state?
If an external condition is changed the equilibrium will shift to oppose the change
What is the effect of temperature on equilibrium?
If the temperature is increased the equilibrium will shift to oppose this change, favouring the endothermic reaction to reduce the temp by absorbing heat and vice versa
What is low temperature’s effect at dynamic equilibrium? [2]:
• May give a higher yield of product - Slows rates of reaction
