Prokaryotes
means “before nucleus” • prokaryotes don’t have a nuclei. • instead the cell_ is comprised of single circular chromosomes in the central part of the part of the cell called the nucleoid.
Similarities(with Eukaryotes)
• Both have DNA • Both have Ribosomes • Both have Cytoplasm • Bothe have have Plasma membrane_ Phospholipid bi-layer.
Features of Prokaryotes
• DNA Free Cytoplasm(Nucliod region) • DNA in ring form of proteins(naked DNA) • No membrane bound organelle. • No mitochondria.
Features of Prokaryotes_2
• Single celled organism • 70 Ribosomes • Reproduction through binary fission. • No internal compartmentalization to form organelles.
Not-membrane bound organelles
• Cell wall: Protects protein-based coating • Plasma membrane: Selectively permeable, controls entry and exit of materials out of the cells. • Pili: attach to other bacteria for DNA transfer.
Not-membrane bound organelles
• Cytoplasm: contains enzymes for metabolic processes. • Nucleoid: closed-loops of Bacterial DNA_-(Condensed Area) • Ribosomes: Protein synthesis (Transcription and translation) • Flagella: Whiplash- like motion causes Movement.
