What is Pitch?
Pitch is related to the frequency of sound waves. Higher pitch is created by something vibrating very rapidly, and lower pitch is when the vibrations are slower.
What is a Sound Wave?
A sound wave is a longitudinal wave in which the air particles vibrate in the same direction that the wave travels.
What is Infrasound?
Any sound with a frequency below the range of human hearing.
What is Ultrasound?
Any sound with a frequency above human hearing.
What is Resonance?
A moment when two objects naturally vibrate at the same frequency.
What is Intensity?
The amount of light illuminating a surface.
What is a Decibel?
The most common unit ti measure loudness.
What is Fundemental Frequency?
The primary standing wave on a vibrating string has a wavelength that is twice the length of the string.
What is Sonar?
Sonar determines distance by measuring the time it takes for sound waves to be reflected back off of a surface.
What is the Basilar Membrane?
A long, flexible membrane in the inner ear. Different parts vibrate at different frequencies and makes resonance.
What is a Photon?
Energy of light in small packets. A beam of light is an example of a photon.
What is Intensity?
Intensity depends on the amount of light, the number, or photons, that pass through a certain area.
What is Radar?
Radar is used to find the locations of aircrafts or even spread out radio waves.
What is the Electromagnetic Spectrum
The electromagnetic spectrum is a range of rays and waves that all have their own specific functions. We as humans can only see a very small portion of that.
What is a Light Ray?
A light ray is used to describe a relfection, refraction, and many other effects of light.
What is a Virtual Image?
An image that results from what looks like the path of the light rays, but it isnt the actual path it takes.
What is a Real Image?
When light rays are all focused on one point or a very small area
What is Diffuse Reflection?
When a rough surface reflects light and it scatters in many directions.
What is Geometrical Optics?
When light acts as a ray.
What is the Angle of Reflection?
The angle that light rays bounce off of an object.
What is the Angle of Incidence?
The angle of the light rays that hit the surface.
What is the Law of Reflection?
The law of reflection states that the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
What is the Normal?
The normal is the point at which the ray separates. It is the point in the middle between the original ray and the reflected ray.
What is a Convex Mirror?
A convex mirror is a mirror that curves outwards and bends light in
