define transpiration stream
the continuous movement of water from the roots, up the xylem to the leaves where it is lost by transpiration
when a leaf is covered in a plastic bag what will happen
water is absorbed from the soil by the roots by osmosis .The water enters the xylem in the root .It moves up the stem though the xylem to the leaves as part of the transpiration stream. In the leaf the water evapourates by the heat and form water vapour in the air spaces inside the leaf. The water vapour diffuses out through the stomata in the bag.
