What make up the trophic levels of an ecosystem
producers and consumers
How many levels of consumers are there
4
What are the trophic levels that energy progresses through
producers primary consumer secondary consumer tertiary consumer quaternary consumer
Food webs show ……. relationships
complex
Do food chains also show detrivores/decomposers
yes
Mushrooms are ………
decomposers
What is the importance of mushrooms
our forests could not survive without them
Population growth can upset the …….. of an ecosystem
balance
What are the limiting factors on population
food space competition shelter disease
Carrying capacity
initial period of exponential growth
Limiting factors in populations can growth to ……. and eventually …….
slow;stop
When does population stabilizes
when carrying capacity is reached
Food web dynamics are affected by what
changes in predator and/or prey populations
Predator/Prey dynamics allow different ……. to occupy the same ecosystem
predators
Does the elimination of one species affect other species
yes
What will happen to prey populations if the predators is removed
prey will overpopulate
Elimination of species can also affect….
other predators in a food web
What are the types of trophic pyramids
pyramid of numbers pyramid of biomass pyramid of energy
Pyramid of numbers show what
total organisms in each population in an ecosystem
Pyramid of numbers show the relationship between ……..
different populations
The bottom of the pyramid of numbers of the ……. level in most cases
largest
Pyramid of biomass show
amount of biomass at each trophic level
Pyramid of biomass does not count for….
energy lost due to metabolism
Where is most biomass in the pyramid of biomass
bottom level
