What is a pitch?
A measure of how high or low a sound depends on the frequency of the sound wave.
What is a sound wave?
A longitudinal wave that is caused by vibrations and that travels through a solid, liquid, or gas
What is a infrasound?
Frequencies lower than 20hz
What is an ultrasound?
Frequencies higher than 20 000hz
What is a resonance?
when two or more objects vibrate at the same frequency
What is intensity?
Describes the rate that a sound wave transmits energy through a solid, liquid, or gas
What is decibel?
What is measured in units DB
What is fundamental frequency?
Frequency of a strings vibration
What is harmonics?
Fundamental frequency and a whole number multiples of that frequency.
Sonar
A system that uses sounds or echoes to find the location of the object
Basilar membrane
A long flexible membrane that some parts vibrate at different frequencies
Photon
A unit of light
Intensity
How fast or slow something travels through a space
Radar
System that uses reflected radio waves to find the speed and the location of something
Electromagnetic spectrum
Contains light at all energies, frequencies and wavelength.
What is a light Ray?
Direction of the light
What is virtual image?
An image that forms at a location. Ex. A mirror
What is a real image?
An image of an object that comes together at one location.
What is diffuse reflection?
Light is random directions
What is geometrical optics?
Behaves like a ray
What is angle of reflection?
Light rays deflecting off something
What is angle of incidence?
Light rays striking in something
What is law of reflection?
Angle of reflection and angle of incidence.
What is normal?
Line in the middle of a perpendicular surface
