How do you calculate the moles of a gas?
Moles = volume/24 Volume must be in dm3
How do you calculate the moles of a anything?
Moles = mass/RFM
How do you calculate the concentration?
Concentration = moles/volume Concentration = mol/dm3
mol
the unit for the amount of a substance
Percentage Yield
Theortical/Actual x 100
Empirical Formula
Simplest whole number ratio
Molecular Formula
Number of atoms of each elements present in a compound
Titration Method
• Wash burette with alkalis solution • Fill burette with alkalis solution • Make sure there are no bubbles in burette - space between tap and tip contains liquid • Use pipette to pour 25cm3 of acid into conical flask • Add few drops of indicator into conical flask • Add few drops of alkalis at a time • Swirl concical flask • colour change • Repeat until there is no longer colour change • Record final and initial volume • Repeat until concordant results
