#1
Front (Question)

Why do we have day and night

Back (Answer)

We have day and night because th Earth rotates on its axis. It takes 24 hours to do a full rotation. When the part is the Earth that we are on is facing the sun, it is day. When the part of the Earth that we are on is facing away from the sun, it is night.

#2
Front (Question)

What makes a day 24hours long

Back (Answer)

It takes the Earth 24 hours to make a complete turn on its axis.

#3
Front (Question)

What makes a year 365 days

Back (Answer)

The Earth takes 365 days to make one complete orbit of the sun

#4
Front (Question)

What makes summer different from winter

Back (Answer)

In winter the suns energy is less concentrated as the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun whil in summer the suns energy is more concentrated as the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun

#5
Front (Question)

When it is Winter in Britain, what season is it in Australia? Why?

Back (Answer)

Because the southern hemisphere where Australia is is tilted towards the sun while the northern hemisphere where Britain is, is tilted away from the sun

#6
Front (Question)

What does a satellite orbit? What is the shape of that orbit?

Back (Answer)

They orbit planets in an almost circular orbit

#7
Front (Question)

What does a comet orbit? What is the shape of that orbit?

Back (Answer)

Commits orbit the sun in a very elliptical orbit

#8
Front (Question)

Why are the stars in May different from the stars we see in December?

Back (Answer)

The Earth completes its orbit around the Sun or its revolution in about 365 days total. As the Earth revolves around the Sun, the position of the Earth changes and this creates the different views of the night sky.

#9
Front (Question)

Name three forces acting in this room, and one that doesn’t.

Back (Answer)

Gravity, air resistance and contact force there is no tension

#10
Front (Question)

What three things about an object can a force change?

Back (Answer)

The shape of something The speed The direction it’s moving in

#11
Front (Question)

What is Newton’s 1st Law of motion?

Back (Answer)

An object will remain as is unless it is acted on by an UNBALANCED FORCE

#12
Front (Question)

A box has a 5N force acting on it pushing it to the left and a 4N force acting on it pushing to the right. Calculate the resultant force.

Back (Answer)

1N to the left

#13
Front (Question)

A box has a 5N force acting on it pushing it down and a 4N force acting on it pushing it down. Calculate the resultant force.

Back (Answer)

9N down

#14
Front (Question)

Why are racing cars flat and smooth?

Back (Answer)

So that they are streamlined and can ouch through the air fast

#15
Front (Question)

If I want to reflect infra-red radiation when I go outside, what colour should my coat be?

Back (Answer)

Silver

#16
Front (Question)

Removing the air from inside something creates a vacuum. Why is this hard to do in the lab?

Back (Answer)

Because their is air everywhere

#17
Front (Question)

What causes water pressure on your goggles when you go underwater?

Back (Answer)

The goggles are pressing into your face because of drag/water resistance

#18
Front (Question)

Why does a marshmallow grow when put in a vacuum?

Back (Answer)

Pressure in the marshmallows is caused by the particles colliding with the surfaces or sides. In the vacuum there is little or no pressure so the particles have more room to expand.

#19
Front (Question)

If I put an object on a newtonmeter and get a reading of 32N, did I measure weight or mass

Back (Answer)

Weight

#20
Front (Question)

Going to the moon would change which one: weight or mass? Why?

Back (Answer)

Weight because mass doesn’t change but weight is the force from gravity times g

#21
Front (Question)

On Earth, what is gravitational field strength, g?

Back (Answer)

10 N/kg

#22
Front (Question)

On Earth, what does a mass of 12kg weigh?

Back (Answer)

120N

#23
Front (Question)

On Jupiter, where g=22 N/kg, what does the 12 kg weigh?

Back (Answer)

264

#24
Front (Question)

What is the mass of an object with weight 4.5N on Earth

Back (Answer)

450g/0.45kg
