Card preview (8)

#1
Front (Question)

Three key enzymes

Back (Answer)

Endopeptidases, exopeptidases and membrane bound dipeptidases

#2
Front (Question)

Where are these enzymes found

Back (Answer)

Endopeptidases and exopeptidases found in Stomach and Duodenum Dipeptidases found in ileum

#3
Front (Question)

Where are theses enzymes made

Back (Answer)

Pancreas

#4
Front (Question)

Endopeptidases

Back (Answer)

Hydrolyse central peptide bonds to form smaller peptide chains and increase SA and amount of ends Protein -> Polypeptides

#5
Front (Question)

Exopeptidases

Back (Answer)

Hydrolyses peptide bonds at ends to form dipeptides Polypeptides -> Dipeptides TIP: Exo = ends /exit

#6
Front (Question)

Dipeptidases

Back (Answer)

Hydrolyse peptide bonds between dipeptides to form amino acids Dipeptides -> Amino acids

#7
Front (Question)

Hydrochloric acid in stomach

Back (Answer)

Stomach contains HCl and this denatures proteins tertiary structure breaking ionic bonds, disulphide bridges and hydrogen bonds . This produces a long chain of polypeptides. Therefore, endopeptidases can hydrolyse into smaller polypeptides and then exopeptidases hydrolyse terminal ends

#8
Front (Question)

Absorption of amino acids

Back (Answer)

Same as monosaccharides
