name some kind of wastes that our body produces
urine, feces, sweat, CO2
what is the main function of the urinary system
filter blood and to remove waste and excess substances like water and minerals, it also eliminates this waste ( urination)
what do kidneys do
organs that filter blood, they remove the waste products from the blood by producing urine.
what is urea
a waste product from breakdown of protein in the body .
why is the concentration of urea higher in kidneys than in blood
because the kidney filters urea from blood and transfer this waste product to the urine
from what part do the kidneys receive blodd
from renal artery, it connects to the nephrons inside the kidneys, the nephrons filter blood and remove waste product
where does filtered blood go
it goes back to the heart through the renal vein
where does the urine ( waste product) go to
does to bladder through ureter
kidney function
2 bean-shaped organs that filter blood and maintain blood balance through the production of urine
ureters function
2 tubes each linking to a kidney, transports urine from kidneys to bladder
bladder function
urine reservoir with elastic walls, stores urine until it is ready to be releases through urination
urethra
tube that transports urine from the bladder to the outside of the body during urination
what is homeostatis
the body`s ability to maintain balance
what happens when we drink a lot of water
there is excess of waste in blood making our blood volume increase, message is sent from brain to kidney to remove water causing a diluted urine. allows for concentration of minerals in blood to return back to normal.
what happens if we eat to much salty food
large intestine will absorb a lot of minerals, concentration of minerals in the blood will be too high. message will be sent from brain to kidney to retain water which will cause a more concentrated urine.
