3%=10 vol 6%=20vol 9%=30 vol 12%=40vol
what single process what does each vol do or how many levels of lift
10 vol- deposit only and for people going darker 20 vol- 1 level of lift good for greys/ mature hair 30 vol- 2 levels of lift 40 vol - 3 levels of lift
what are the 2 types of melanin (pigment)
• Eumelanin -for black and dark browns -smaller pigment molecules -theres more of them • Pheomelanin -for light brown and blonde -less amount of these in cortex
4 types of hair color
-Temporary - washes out and does not penetrate cuticle (hair chalk) -Semi- permanent - ammonia free, does stain & penetrate cuticles (opens) remains 4-6 weeks -Demi-permanent - does not lift, does penetrate cuticle, 15-20 washes for refreshing color (toner) -Permanent- doesn’t wash out, has ammonia, covers 100% greys, lifts, darkens (bleach)
what are the two laws of color
Darker= add RPC ( remaining pigment contribution) Lighter= use it or lose it

medula (inner most layer)
Double process peroxide levels
10 vol= 3 levels of lift 20vol = 4 levels of lift 30 vol= 5 levels of lift 40 vol= 6 levels of lift
what are the 2 steps of double process
step 1= lift or lighten (bleach + peroxide) step 2= Tone (semi-permanent)
what are the 4 look for’s in hair analysis
Density- how much hair per square inch Texture- Fine, medium, coarse Elasticity- ability to stretch without breaking porosity- how much moisture it can retain
