Community
A group of living organisms living in the same space
Population
A group of individuals of the same species living in the same space
Survivorship
life span of organisms
density dependent
based on population size (ex. disease, food)
density independent
not based on population size (ex. weather events)
Niche
resources that organisms need to survive + the role the organism plays in that community
6 interspecific interactions
Prince - Parasitism Charles - Competition + Prince - Predation Henry - Herbivory Met - Mutualism Camilla - Commensalism
parasitism
one benefits, the host is hurt
competition
They share niche’s so they compete for resources
predation
organisms eating other animals
herbivory
they eat plants
mutualism
both organisms benefit
commensalism
one benefits + the other is neither harmed nor benefited
population density
The # in a specific area
why is water polar?
Water is polar because the Oxygen in H2O is more electronegative. So the electrons spend more time around oxygen than the hydrogens. This causes oxygen and hydrogen to have opposite charges: oxygen is negative and hydrogen is positive
clumped dispersion patter
ex. moss
uniform dispersion patter
ex. trees
random dispersion pattern
ex. weeds
exponential population growth
birth rate is greater than death rate
logistic population growth
A population will grow overtime and eventually level out once it experiences limiting factors and carrying capacity
survivorship
life span of organisms - type I (humans)-
