#1
Front (Question)

What is the law of conservation of mass?

Back (Answer)

The total mass lf the products formed in a reaction is equal to the total mass of the reactants

#2
Front (Question)

What are the techniques for seperating mixtures?

Back (Answer)

• filtration • crystalisation • Distillation • chromatogrpahy

#3
Front (Question)

What is crystalisation?

Back (Answer)

Getting pure salt: heat to evaportate water until the solution is at the point of crystalisation(when small crystals appear on the edge of the solution. • extract crystals • left of the saturated solution is left to evaporate at room temperature (Sperates soluble from solvent)

#4
Front (Question)

What is distillation do?

Back (Answer)

Allows you to collect the solvent(water). Solution heated and boiled to evaporte solvent. Vapour enters a condenser after rising. This glass tube cools the vapour and condensed back into a liquid for collection. Any solids will remain at the start point

#5
Front (Question)

What are the properties of mixtures?

Back (Answer)

• no fixed composition • no chemical bonds • elements and compounds are easier to sperate

#6
Front (Question)

Soluble

Back (Answer)

Able to be dissolved

#7
Front (Question)

Solvent

Back (Answer)

Able to dissolve other substances
