What is force?
Force is the push and pulls on an object.
How do we measure force?
Through Newtons
Why do we call it Newtons?
It is named after the Physicist Sir Isaac Newton
What did he do?
He was an English physicist and a mathematician.
Examples of force being used
Our bodies require force to function every day. Our Legs push on the ground to step. Our muscles use force to be moved and to open doors and pick up groceries.
`What is deformation?
The process that takes place when force changed the shape of an object.
What does it mean to be stationary?
To be still and not be moving.
What can force do?
Change the Direction and Motion of an object
What do we call and object that is moving?
It has velocity.
Velocity determines…
the speed and the direction the object is moving in
A car traveling on a highway at 100km/h in a straight line has…
Constant Velocity.
Define Acceleration.
Acceleration is the measurement of how an objects speed changes every second.
What would happen if we push a wall
It exerts a force back on you.
How do pairs react?
One is an action and the other is a reaction
Differentiate between the two.
An action pushes the force onto the object. A reaction pushes a force back onto the action.
What happened when both of you pushed or pulled with an equal force?
When the forces are equal to each other and opposite in direction, they balance each other and we say that the net force is 0 N.
What happened when one of you pushed or pulled harder than the other person?
• When the forces are acting in opposite directions, but are not equal, we say that the net force is greater than 0 N. There is a resultant force.
